Anki Automation OAuth · Last updated 25 August 2026
Scope
Anki Automation OAuth is a private application used only by its operator, Noah Buckley. It is not a public service and does not create accounts for other people.
Google data used
The application uses Google OAuth, rather than a Google password, to access the operator's Gmail drafts. It reads private drafts with the automation's defined subject prefixes and creates private drafts addressed to the same Gmail account. These drafts contain Anki workload context or proposed text-only Anki cards. The application does not intentionally read unrelated mail and does not send email.
Purpose and sharing
Google data is used only to move structured personal-learning data between the operator's self-hosted n8n automation and the operator's separately authorised ChatGPT Gmail connection. It is not sold, used for advertising, or shared for unrelated purposes. Google necessarily processes Gmail and OAuth data, and OpenAI may process the selected drafts when the operator's connected Gmail integration performs the scheduled curator task.
This application's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Storage and security
OAuth tokens are stored in the operator's self-hosted n8n database and encrypted with a persistent encryption key. The administration interface is protected by Cloudflare Access. Drafts remain in the operator's Gmail account until the operator deletes them. Local run records retain only the data needed for audit and duplicate prevention; credentials and tokens are excluded from automation logs.
Retention and deletion
The operator can stop access at any time by revoking Anki Automation OAuth in Google Account settings and deleting the corresponding n8n credential. Gmail drafts can be deleted in Gmail, and locally stored automation records can be removed from the self-hosted system in accordance with its backup and recovery procedure.
